Get to Know Me
How did you get in to programming?
I started out designing websites in high school in the late 90s as a way to showcase my graphic design work. I decided to take some elective classes in programming and learned C++ and JavaScript. That is what really sparked my interest. Then when the opportunity to develop websites for my design clients came up, I jumped at the chance. Ten years later, here I am with a lot more experience and a better education, still chomping at the bit to learn every new thing that comes along.
What do you do when you are not working?
I am a really outdoorsy person, I like to hike, camp, fish, and play disc golf. If I’m not working on a website, or creating / learning some new cool technique, then I can usually be found hanging out with my family and friends doing something outside.
What motivates you?
Problem solving is definitely at the core of what drives me. I live by the can-do mantra of, “Anything is possible and if it’s possible I can do it.” I love puzzles and creating solutions to problems. I’m very competitive with myself when it comes to programming. For instance, I love to create and learn new techniques. More than once I have been heard to exclaim “I win!” when I have either squashed a coding bug or authored some cool new web thing that I have never seen implemented before.
