Some get a kick out of champagne: We get a kick out of ripping cartilage, tearing hamstrings, bruising bones, staining clothes, and generally creating mayhem on the kickball field … all in an effort to help our Downtown area raise money.

Dubbed Balls to the Wall, we came, we kicked, and we conquered…one team. One sad, pathetic shell of a team. We almost conquered another, losing by a run, and twice we got hammered - by teams brimming with steroids, amphetamines and Mad Dog. Unless, of course, they were just that much better than we were.

Anyway, it’s the effort that counts, right? And you can bet the “Bad News Brears” will be back next year. Provided our bodies heal.
